Ross began oil painting at about 16 years of age, while a student in Shepparton, Victoria. As a student he was encouraged to draw and paint on location – a habit he maintains. He completed a Diploma of Graphic Design at Caulfied Institute of Technology (now Monash University).
After teaching art in Victorian Secondary schools for over twenty years while painting part-time, Ross resigned from the Education system in 1994 to pursue his passion for painting.
A passionate and dedicated teacher, Ross is in high demand for his popular and informative workshops. He has taught across Australia and in New Zealand. He is also an experienced art show judge.
Ross was one of only twenty international artists invited to exhibit in the biennial Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolour Exhibitions in 2010 and 2012. His articles have been published in Australian Artist, and in L’ Art de Aquarelle magazine.
His work hangs in many permanent collections in corporate and municipal galleries and private collections of art. He is also a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute (based in Sydney).
Ross paints and exhibits in oils, in watercolour, and in pastel.
